The European Sport Economics Association (ESEA) is a scientific association that was founded in Cologne on 4 October 2010.

Its aim is to promote communication between academics as well as practitioners in the field of sport economics and to demonstrate the benefits of relevant research and academic training in Europe to academics, practitioners, politicians and the public. The purpose is primarily realised through the organisation of an annual conference and the publication of documents in the field of sports economics.

The ESEA Conference 2023 was hosted by the Cork University Business School from 23-25 August 2023 in Cork (Ireland). The International Journal of Sport Finance, the official ESEA journal, published a special issue dedicated to selected papers from the conference.

The ESEA Conference 2024 will be hosted by the Erasmus School of Economics and will take place from 21 to 23 August 2024 in Rotterdam (Netherlands).
