Any natural person of legal age (18 years and older), who is willing to participate in the Association’s academic purpose or who is willing to support the Association, may become a member of the Association.
To become a member, the membership application form must be sent to the Committee.
The committee decides on membership applications. The committee can transfer this authority to the President. If a membership application has been declined, the applicant may demand in writing that a decision is taken at the next Members’ Assembly which she/he shall be invited to attend.
Each regular participant of the annual ESEA conference becomes a member of ESEA for the period of the next financial year, i.e. 1 October in the year of the conference until 30 September of the following year, if the conference participant agrees to this while registering for the annual ESEA conference.
The membership is non-transferable and non-hereditary.
The membership is terminated by death, withdrawal, or at the end of the financial year in which the membership begun. If a membership commenced between July 15th and September 30th of a given year, the membership terminates at the end of the following financial year.
A withdrawal has to be sent in writing to the Secretary General.
A member can be expelled from the Association, if the member committed a serious breach of the Articles of Association or the interests of the Association or if the member committed a serious breach of the accepted rules of proper academic practice or if an academic degree of the member has been revoked. The committee decides about the expulsion after a hearing of the member. The expelled member may demand in writing that a decision is taken at the next Members’ Assembly which she/he shall be invited to attend.
