The European Sport Economics Association (ESEA) is a scientific association that was founded in Cologne on 4 October 2010. Its aim is to promote communication between academics and between academics and practitioners in the field of sport economics and to demonstrate the benefits of relevant research and academic training in Europe to academics, practitioners, politicians and the public. The purpose is primarily realised through the organisation of an annual conference and the publication of documents in the field of sports economics.
The 15th ESEA Conference 2024 was hosted by the Erasmus School of Economics from 21 to 23 August 2024 in Rotterdam (Netherlands). The International Journal of Sport Finance, the official ESEA journal, published a special issue dedicated to selected papers from the conference.
The 16th ESEA Conference 2025 will be hosted by the University of Innsbruck and will take place from 27 to 29 August 2025 in Innsbruck (Austria). In the lead-up to the conferenceto the PhD seminar will be held from 25 to 27 August 2025. Further information on the conference will be published by the end of 2024 at the latest.
